Simple Liver Cleanse

Simple Liver Detox

Juice of half a lemon (organic if possible)

Juice of half a lime (optional)

1 drop Lemon Essential Oil

1 drop Peppermint Essential Oil

In the morning, before eating or drinking anything other than pure water, squeeze the lemon (and lime if using) into a small glass, add one drop of Lemon Essential Oil and one drop of Peppermint Essential Oil. I add a little bit of pure water and then down the hatch! Wait about 20 minutes before consuming anything else other than pure water.  Drinking filtered water free of chemicals is so important, this is the filtration system that I recommend.

Depending on how much cleansing you feel your liver needs, or how brave you are 😉 this can be repeated 20 minutes before lunch and dinner, so a total of three times daily.  However, even just once in the morning is a great place to start!

Repeat daily for 28 days. You may get hooked and never want to stop!

Benefits:

  • Lemon – Lemon is known for its ability to clean toxins from the any part of the body aiding in liver and kidney cleansing, skin conditions, infectious disease, impaired memory, gout, urinary tract infections, parasites, varicose veins, anxiety, insomnia, hair, acne. It is very uplifting to the body and mind and is also antiviral and antibacterial.
  • Lime – Limes contain unique active compounds called flavonol glycosides, which not only offer anticancer and antioxidant benefits, but also have antibiotic properties. Other lime benefits include stimulation of liver, healthy maintenance of heart due to its magnesium content, and potassium content that helps fight anxiety and depression.
  • Peppermint – Stimulates healthy bile flow from the liver and gall bladder and supports the digestive system as a whole. Peppermint is a potent liver detoxifier.

Please note:  When ingesting Essential Oils it is imperative that you only use the highest quality, pure, therapeutic grade essential oils.  The only Essential Oils that I recommend are Young Living Essential Oils, you can find out more about these oils and how to purchase them HERE.

On a personal note: Today, (July 26’14) I am on day 3 of this 28 day Liver cleanse.  I am feeling great, and will give you an update at the end of the 28 days!

    • Hello Angela, thank you for your response.

I actually forgot to post an update, sorry, but I noticed such a difference in the first 28 days …not only did I have more energy, but I also felt happier and less anxious within myself. When I researched further I found that these essential oils (citrus and peppermint) have been known to have those properties as well! I actually added this cleanse as a part of my daily regime and have no plans to ever stop!

I have changed it up a little, to the freshly squeezed lemon juice and essential oils (I now add a few drops of each), I add about a cup of cold filtered water and a cup of boiling water … great way to start the day, and a great way to hydrate your body first thing in the morning.

Just a reminder that I only ingest Young Living Essential Oils as I mentioned in my post.

Let me know how it goes for you and good luck!

      • Okay. So you are not using fresh squeezed juice any longer? I have been doing 4-5 drops of lemon essential oil (young living of course) in hot water every morning…. I think I’ll add peppermint and lime now.

      • Hello Adria, yes I still use the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon, I add a few drops of each of these oils: lemon essential oil, orange essential oil and lime essential oil then add a cup of cold water and a cup of boiling water (so that it is essentially a warm drink). I drink this every morning first thing and then wait a bit before enjoying my cup of tea 🙂

  1. I was introduced to young living oils after melanoma was removed from my back. A friend blended frankincense lavender & melaleuca to put on the incision, it was miraculous how quickly it healed. I began drinking warm lemon water a few months ago, I now put a drop of tangerine, lemon & lime in 16 oz of drinking water. Is there a reason you do not put a drop of lime in your detox formula?

    • Hello Rhonda, thank you for commenting on my post, and what a great testimony on the healing of your incision with essential oils! To answer your question re Lime EO, as I mentioned to Adria in an earlier comment, “along with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon, I add a few drops of each of these oils: lemon essential oil, orange essential oil and lime essential oil then add a cup of cold water and a cup of boiling water (so that it is essentially a warm drink). I drink this every morning first thing and then wait a bit before enjoying my cup of tea”. Lime EO is most definitely a part of my daily regime 🙂
