If we lived in a perfect world, the answer would most likely be NO. In a perfect world, our food sources and way of life would be more than adequate to take care of all our dietary and emotional needs. Unfortunately, our modern day environment and lifestyle is so profoundly different than it was 100 years ago. So much so, my belief supports the fact that supplementing our diet is absolutely imperative.
Over the years the quality of our food has diminished and become less nutritionally dense:
- A decline in soil diversity and quality (and consequent decline in nutrient density of foods). In 1948 a cup of spinach yielded 158mg of iron, today it yields 2mg of iron. The soil cannot produce what it does not have!
